Used
a yearbook picture
for the funeral.

Had to go
closed casket:
police were brutal.

Hope
the 8×10
atop his coffin

Is how folks
remember him
in future.

For Mama, though,
forgetting will be harder:

Sonny’s mug shot
goes on living
at The Herald.

Usamos una foto
de su anuario
en el velorio.
Brutalidad oficial:
Ataúd cerrado.

Espero
que el retrato
encima del féretro
Sea como la gente
lo recuerde
en el futuro.

Pero, para Mami,
olvidar será más duro:

La foto policial
perdura
por El Diario.
